Marcus Studio was founded by Craig Marcus in 1992 in a 100 year-old wooden carriage house in the East End of Pittsburgh, PA. Such furniture studios and custom shops have a terrific history in America, Europe, and in Asia as the starting points for many of the prominent styles that have later been manufactured by larger companies.

Among the many designs which first grew from these small studios, it is the straight-line, architectural styles that have appealed to me most, such as Mission, Arts and Crafts, Shaker, Danish, Scandinavian, French Noveau, as well as some Japananese and Indian schools. Our furniture has naturally evolved from these styles into a contemporary vocabulary that is marked, like its ancestors, by its integrity, restraint, and attention to detail.

This website acts as our up-to-date online catalog, displaying our full line of furniture. We update the site often, as soon as new pieces become available. The Custom Folio section of this site shows some of the custom pieces we've produced and other variations to our product line.

Additionally, we offer design services if you would like a custom piece created for yourself. We are happy to work one-on-one with our customers to create a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture which conforms to your specifications. These design services are charged out at an hourly rate, with a 2 hour minimum charge. Please don't hesitate to inquire about these services as custom work is often the rule rather than the exception at Marcus Studio.
